Psychiatric Advance Directives, Freedom and Self Advocacy
The Freedom and Self Advocacy curriculum (developed by the National Mental Health Consumer’s Self-Help Clearing House) teaches consumers how to advocate for themselves, create a peer support network for discussing and supporting individual advocacy success stories and challenges and provides them with resources for advocacy and technical support.

| In this session you can learn to teach three workshops covering the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary for effective self-advocacy. These workshops include role-plays and other activities, and they offer a variety of “advocacy modules” on topics such as housing, advance directives, employment and managed care. |

| $600 per participant, plus travel costs -limited to 20 participants |
| In this session you can learn how to offer the workshops in your community to teach other consumers to develop and implement on-going Freedom and Self Advocacy trainings and advocacy support groups. |

| Introduction to Psychiatric Advance Directives |
Full day session |
| $600 per session, plus travel costs -limited to 50 participants |
| This full day session reviews the key concepts of psychiatric advance directives and legal aspects of the document. Further, it will explore the benefits and challenges found in other states using psychiatric advance directives. This session will provide example of documents and examines each element of the document using activities to fully understand the components of the document and how to implement it into one’s life. |
