 Mission Statement
The mission of the Friends Connection Program of the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania is to provide social support and healthy community connections for people with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse who aspire to a fuller life in a supportive community environment that is free of drug and alcohol abuse. We strengthen skills that can be applied to home, social, or work relationships and recovery.
What We Do:
- We are committed to providing community-based services that take place on-site at 12-Step meetings, and at community recreational, educational and cultural facilities.
- We assist in the development of resources and skills for healthy relationships and leisure activities to help build a solid foundation for recovery.
What We Believe:
- We believe that to improve, empower, and enrich the lives of the people we serve, the support of a "friend in recovery" helps a person who is addicted to find meaningful recovery.
- By providing support to engage in personal enrichment activities, healthy relationships, and healthy leisure activities, the need for hospitalization and long-term residential placement is reduced or eliminated, and options to achieve a fuller life in the community are enhanced.
