Success Stories
Mental illness and addiction can exact a terrible toll on our personal lives. Disruptions in education and employment, estrangement from family and friends, and the dissolution of self-esteem and spirit are only compounded by the societal stigma cast on mental illness and addiction.
Since 1989 we have had the privilege of entering into relationships with individuals struggling with mental illness and drug/alcohol addiction. Some of these individuals have a history of institutionalization (state psychiatric hospital) and most recently, some individuals would have ended up institutionalized had Philadelphia State Psychiatric Hospital not been closed. The common thread that bonds these people together, and in part the source of our strength and continued commitment to the work we do - their tremendous courage.
