PoetryBeing Here (Gwen Young-El, Peer Support Counselor) Being here at Friends Connection, is an experience indeed. At Night I Am (Anonymous) At night when I close my eyes,I remember... I remember the loneliness, I remember the pain. I remember my substance abuse all done in vain. It only made me feel numb, it did not make me whole, It brought me deeper despair, it darkened my soul. But now when it's dark, I walk in the light, My sobriety sings, and my soul it takes flight. For in place of the drugs, I have truly found me, And I have come to believe I am a good place to be. At night, when I close my eyes, I remember - who I am. The Friends Connection (Gwen Young-El, Peer Support Counselor) F riends C ommon Recovery Haiku (Bill Burns-Lynch) Peaceful as dew |
