Volunteer Opportunities

The Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania (MHASP) recruits volunteers for its programs that arrange one-on-one matches between adults interested in spending at least one hour per week for at least one year with an adult in recovery from a mental illness. The programs, Community Companion in Philadelphia, Bucks County Compeer and Chester County Compeer, believe that friends can help adults with severe mental illnesses overcome fear, isolation and loneliness. Matches are made between people of the same sex who have common interests and live in the same general geographic area. For more information, contact Kathie Mitchell for Community Companion in Philadelphia, Susan Orloski at Bucks County Compeer, or Rob Chisholm at Chester County Compeer.

MHASP has a growing list of opportunities for people interested in assisting with general administrative work, either at the Association's headquarters at 1211 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, or in many of its programs located in suburban areas outside the city. For more information, contact Nancy Salazar, manager of Information and Referral at 215-751-1800 ext. 228.
